A New Chapter for #SaveGolfoDulce

August 17, 2026

Today we can share an important step in the development of #SaveGolfoDulce.

TerraVita Solutions e.V., the non-profit organization behind #SaveGolfoDulce, has officially been recognized by the German tax authorities as serving charitable purposes.

It may sound like an administrative milestone.

For us, it means much more.

From an idea to a lasting organization

#SaveGolfoDulce began with a simple conviction.

The Golfo Dulce is too exceptional to take for granted.

Its rainforest, mangroves, rivers and marine habitats form an interconnected ecosystem supporting extraordinary biodiversity. Humpback whales use these waters for reproduction and calving, resident dolphin populations live here throughout the year, and the wider region contains habitats ranging from coral communities to mangroves and tropical rainforest. citeturn255956search0turn632023search3

Protecting a place like this requires more than concern.

It requires continuity.

Research projects need organization. Monitoring requires equipment and people. Cooperation with scientists, communities and public institutions needs a reliable structure. Donations and partnerships need transparency and accountability.

That is why TerraVita Solutions e.V. was created.

What charitable status means for our work

The recognition strengthens the institutional foundation behind everything we want to build.

It gives TerraVita a formal charitable framework for environmental protection, research, education and related activities.

It also gives donors, research partners, companies and other organizations greater clarity about who stands behind #SaveGolfoDulce and how our work is structured.

But one thing does not change.

Our mission.

We want to contribute to the long-term protection of the Golfo Dulce through practical conservation work, scientific research and monitoring, environmental education and cooperation with people and organizations that share the same objective.

We are not interested in simply talking about conservation.

We want to build the structures that allow meaningful work to happen.

Transparency matters

Recognition as a charitable organization also comes with responsibility.

We believe anyone supporting our work should be able to understand who we are, what we do and how the organization is structured.

That is why transparency will remain a central part of TerraVita and #SaveGolfoDulce.

Our organizational documents and relevant information about TerraVita Solutions e.V. are made available through our transparency section, and we will continue to expand this information as the organization develops.

The new tax number associated with the charitable status is currently being issued. Once the remaining administrative details are complete, we will also update the relevant donation information.

The real work starts here

Charitable status is not an achievement in conservation.

No whale is safer because of a document.

No mangrove is restored because an authority approved an application.

No water becomes cleaner because an organization receives a new legal status.

What the recognition gives us is a stronger platform from which to do those things.

Our next steps are about turning that platform into measurable action.

Research. Monitoring. Conservation projects. Education. Partnerships. Volunteers. And an increasingly strong network of people who understand how unusual and valuable the Golfo Dulce really is.

We are still at the beginning.

But today, #SaveGolfoDulce has a stronger institutional foundation for the work ahead.

The organization is taking shape. Now the focus is where it belongs: on the Golfo Dulce.
